European Junior Cup: mid-season review
The European Junior Cup for under-17 riders on identical Kawasaki Ninja 250R machines reaches its mid way point at Silverstone this coming weekend, and the battle for the championship is heating up! German Tom Busch leads Australia's Matt Davies by 7 points, with Daniel Mettam from New Zealand in third place chasing an 18 point gap.

Of the 6 nationalities who have visited the podium so far only Davies and Busch have won a race, and with the finishes at Monza and Aragon seeing only a 0.04 and a 0.1 second gap between the two riders, it looks like they are very evenly matched.

Californian Brandon Kyee in fourth continues to impress in his first year aboard a larger machine, and not to be discounted are Spain's Ruben Fenoll in fifth and Sylvano De Aguiar in sixth.

As a sign of the closeness of the Cup, the race win contenders at Aragon were all part of the leading four rider group - with only 0.3 seconds separating them at the line.

Silverstone will also see the UK's Lee Jackson and New Zealand's Jake Lewis make their European Junior Cup debut. Both are amongst the top young racers in their countries and will no doubt be gunning to take the battle to the regular EJC front runners.
